Jude Bellingham to Liverpool transfer: Deal 'close' for England World Cup star

Former Birmingham City star Jude Bellingham is reportedly “very close” to signing for Liverpool in the summer, following his impressive displays for England at the World Cup.

The 19-year-old has already established himself as one of the best midfielders in world football, two-and-a-half years after St. Andrew’s for £25m. Bellingham has starred for Gareth Southgate’s side in Qatar and has long been touted with a move to Liverpool , as well as Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City.

Blues could be set for a windfall if Bellingham does seal a transfer in the summer, with The Athletic reporting that the club are in for 'at least' 5% of any profit, though Blues are yet to confirm an exact figure. Here is a round-up of what’s been said about the midfielder’s future:

German journalist Christian Falk, head of football at SportBILD, has given an update on Liverpool’s interest in the Borussia Dortmund man. The Reds were initially interested in the teenager when he was at Blues, but eventually lost out to Dortmund in 2020.

Falk had previously reported that Liverpool are “favourites” to sign the England international, ahead of Real Madrid. Speaking to the Anfield Wrap on Wednesday, Falk gave an update on Bellingham’s potential move to Merseyside: "We're going to lose Bellingham like Haaland next summer, it's getting closer and closer.

“You heard the news today, you will have heard that Bellingham and Liverpool are very, very close. There have been many, many talks. His father Mark, mother Denise and agent Mark Bennett are really focused on Liverpool."
